In late August, St. Petersburg residents and visitors will have the opportunity to attend the new "Big City Lights" International Film Festival. The program will feature films in which the city serves not merely as a backdrop but as a character in its own right.

Screenings and events for the festival – organized by Lenfilm – will take place at both traditional venues and outdoor locations. The opening ceremony is scheduled for Russian Cinema Day, August 27, on Yelagin Island.
